If you're like many of the people in my inbox (& feed) begging fall to come, you've probably been wishing August away
Orrrr, if you're a summer lover, you're desperately clinging to the last vestiges of warmth
As noted in last week's edition, I LOVE fall. But August has always been a special month.
& not just because it's my birth month and Taylor Swift wrote one of my favorite songs about it...
For me, August felt like the perfect end cap to a summer full of ups and downs
It was a month of desperately trying, failing, and trying again to establish a consistent routine between traveling
A month of revelations, both personal and business, the latter of which I can't wait to share with you soon.
In some ways, this August feels both nostalgic and like a new beginning. I, for one, can't wait to dive into the last four months of the year π«¨
WHAT I'M LEARNING
I've already mentioned I've had several revelations lately, bestie, and although I can't share all of them just yet, I can share what they all had in common β flow.
(With a dash of listening to my intuition and taking m'fing action)
There are some VERY minor changes coming up to the services I offer, and it's been an idea I've been sitting on for months.
After talking it through with my biz besties, I am so excited to bring this vision to life.
I'm following the flow of my energy and where it's been calling me.
Although there are a lot of hard things in life that we do just have to do, I strongly encourage you to evaluate if there are any sticky spots in your life that you could actually cut out
This month's "learning" is in line with my approach to marketing, so it makes sense that it aligns in life, too.
Moving forward, I'm making big efforts on combining the sense of flow with the intention of getting shit done. I'll let ya know how it goes π€π»π
WHAT I'M LOVING
Favorite Book: Is it cheating if I share a book I haven't finished yet? I'm currently a quarter of the way through The Ten Thousand Doors of January, and I just know it's going to be a good one.
I also read Casey McQuiston's YA debut, I Kissed Shara Wheeler and it's a solid 4/5 stars for good queer teen representation in the Bible Belt!
Favorite Movie/Show: Speaking of McQuiston, her book Red, White & Royal Blue was adapted into a movie on Amazon Prime, and it was released this month. My consensus? Good movie, bad adaptation.
But I wanna hear your take! Hit βreplyβ and let me know your thoughts if you've seen it!
Also, because apparently August was the month of adaptations, season 2 of Heartstopper came out at the beginning of the month and I'm obSESSED. I could write an entire email about it (spoiler: this isn't the last time you'll hear about Heartstopper in this one), but if you like cute happy shows, this is the one for you.
Favorite Desk Tunes:
Heartstopper Official Playlist (yeah, you knew this one was coming)
Me Time β Deep Focus (I'm currently listening to this while I'm typing this email!)
Barbie Official Playlist β granted, I haven't listened to the Oppenheimer soundtrack, but I'm pretty sure Barbie wins this competition
Favorite Self-Care Activity: I've talked about grounding before, but here's your reminder that βlizard timeβ is an essential part of any reset ~moment~
π¦ Lizard time, aka turtle time, is what I call the 5 minutes I'll spend sitting on our concrete patio absorbing the sun. It's an instant mood & energy boost!
My other favorite self-care activity of the month is Therapyβ’οΈ.
After sharing a hot take about how sometimes you actually need therapy and not a coach (& getting a handful of less-than-positive responses), here's your reminder that mental health professionals can be incredibly beneficial if you have the time and resources to receive that help
Favorite Posts: I've been having a blast on Instagram lately, and y'all have been vibing right back. But in case you missed anything, here are a few of my favorites from August:
Favorite Coffee Order: Last weekend I impulse ordered a βToasty Ghostyβ latte at our favorite local coffee shop β toasted marshmallow and white chocolate.
10/10, would get again!
And of course, here's this month's favorite cat pictures:
They turned TWO this month π₯Ή
I hate to bring up the passage of time at a time like this, but Q4 is rapidly approaching, and with it an end to the summer slump. That means your audience is going to be more ready to buy than ever.
And if you want to reach them on Pinterest, you need to start ASAP so you can give Pinterest time to work its magic.
