Thursday Press #77: something special, just for you
[20 APR 2023] a new freebie AND a cookie recipe?!
One thing you'll always find if you open our fridge is a container full of no-bake cookies.
If you're not familiar, they're delicious, chocolatey, peanut-butter-y, oatmeal-y goodness. And they're my partner's favorite.
The recipe – passed on by her mom – isn't complicated, but for some reason, the last batch turned out decidedly… squelchy 🥴
(I say “for some reason” as if I don't know the exact reason these cookies weren't up-to-par…)
Add one part of multi-tasking and a dash of can't-be-bothered-to-wash-the-right-measuring-cup, and I totally lost count of the 8 ¼ cup measurements I needed to get to 2 cups of sugar.
Hence the squelch.
The cookies were still edible, but I felt massively defeated knowing I'd put in all the time and effort for just-okay results.
Plus, I felt like a major impostor and a heaping dose of shame for letting myself get distracted and messing up a family recipe.
Unfortunately, this isn't an unfamiliar sitch.
There have been plenty of days where I've felt like I'm just faking it online. I didn't go to school for marketing and never held any “real” corporate marketing jobs.
Even now, when I try and teach myself something new, I get met with a slew of tech-bro-jargon and feel wayyyy out of my league.
Feel familiar? Take a deep breath with me, friend, because this shit's rough.
Especially as a woman, we're basically taught from day one to doubt ourselves and often underestimate our competence.
But that's not what I really wanna talk about today.
If you've ever found yourself putting in a lot of effort for what seems like little to no return, and unable to parse through the jargon-laden tomes of marketing advice, that's what I'm here for!
Let's get into the nitty gritty of why your Pinterest content isn't converting and how we can simply and effectively turn it around.
BELOW THE FOLD
One of the first diagnoses of low-converting marketing is your content.
Everyone and their coach has a different opinion on what the “right” thing to do is:
Create more, or create more video
Don't do this, or actually… always do that
Use my secret technique, buy my templates
and on and on and onnnnnn…
More often than not (in my opinion), you don't actually need to create more. You don't need to take more courses or become more of an expert.
You already are an expert, pal, and you're creating incredible work for your clients and ridiculously valuable content for your audience.
So what's the problem?
In order for your content to convert, people have to actually see it first.
You need more fresh eyes on all your beautiful content, and the perfect place to do that is Pinterest.
Pinterest is designed for discoverability. The pins you see are determined by what you search for and what you engage with, not who you follow.
Users are there to find the best solutions, regardless of who it comes from. That means it's the best place to market your business if you're trying to up your visibility.
But, as with all things, Pinterest is just one piece of the puzzle, and if you want that visibility to convert to subscribers, sales, and dream clients, the rest of your funnel needs to be optimized to do just that.
And because I don't think you should need to have a marketing degree or hire a billion different people to understand your marketing funnel, I've put something special together for you.
Introducing the Audit Your Pinterest Funnel Guide!
Inside this FREE 15-page guide, you'll get a crash course on marketing funnels and how to optimize every part of your Pinterest funnel, both on and off the platform.
Whether you're outsourcing your Pinterest or DIYing it, I truly believe that taking these extra steps to optimize your blogs, website, and emails is what makes the difference between just checking Pinterest off your list and truly using Pinterest as the lead- and income-generating machine it is.
And with that, I can't wait any longer for you to get your hands on it and dive in, so have at it!!! 🎉
From one messy marketing, occasional-mistake-making, but damn passionate business owner to the next, you are more capable than you know!
No amount of mistakes or degrees will take away the creativity, spark, and dedication you have for your business.
Oh, and here's that cookie recipe!
Ingredients
1 stick of unsalted butter (½ cup)
2 cups of sugar
¼ cup of cocoa powder
½ cup of milk
1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
3 cups of quick oats
½ cup of crunchy peanut butter (smooth works too, but I like the crunch!)
Directions
In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat
While the butter melts, whisk together the sugar and cocoa powder in a separate bowl
Once the butter is melted, add the milk and stir
Add the sugar and cocoa powder mixture and stir to combine
Then add the vanilla extract
Cook over medium heat, continuing to stir occasionally
When the mixture starts to boil, time for 1 ½ minutes, then remove from heat and add your quick oats and peanut butter
Stir quickly to combine, then drop the mixture by the spoonful onto a baking sheet lined with wax paper
Pop the sheet into the fridge and wait until the cookies set before transferring into an air-tight container
Store refrigerated or at room temperature!
CAN'T WAIT TO HEAR WHAT YOU THINK!
