Thursday Press #48: why I turned off my social notifications
[30 SEPT 2022] Lifestyle Edition Vol. 007
FALL IS HERE FALL IS HERE!
Sorry for yelling, but it's a crisp 64º as I'm writing this and I could not be more happy.
I'm trying to wrap this up quickly so I can get back to sipping my pumpkin coffee, pulling my sweater sleeves over my palms, and planning our trip to Asheville 👀
Without further ado, I bring you all of my favorites from the past month.
Favorite Follow: The incredible @thegabigutierrez. Gabi is an OBM for online service providers and every single post has me going “hiiii, that's me”. She's also helping me get my schedule and systems in check, which I have been desperately needing. She's also incredibly funny and kind, and has the cutest lil pup!
Favorite Show: House of the Dragon. I didn't get really into Game of Thrones until it was in the 6th season, so watching this prequel in real-time is a totally different experience for me. Personally, I freaking love it. I go all in for medieval, symbolic, character-driven stories, and this show checks all the boxes.
Favorite Desk Tunes: I've been listening to pretty much everything under the sun this month, including playing Gilmore Girls in the background. (I've started over from the beginning and I just love it so much). But, instead of listing my entire Spotify “recently played” for you, here are two new albums I've been enjoying:
Favorite Self Care Activity: I turned off all my social media notifications and I think it's the best thing I've ever done. I'm not going to go all “I'm too good for social media” because hello, I run my business on social media. But boy oh boy has it changed the game. I used to get so distracted by every like, comment, and message. Now, I get to check social media when I choose to, and it's awesome.
Favorite Coffee Order: I know I mentioned seasonal pumpkin drinks last month, but it continues to be relevant. AND I have specific updates. For at home festive beverages, I adore Chobani's pumpkin spice creamer. It doesn't have that oily residue that other oil-based creamers have, and it's a subtle enough flavor that you don't feel the sugar high. When it comes to pumpkin-on-the-go, I'm saying a sad goodbye to Dunkin's pumpkin cream cold brew. Something is DIFFERENT about it this year and I'm not here for it. 😒
And of course, here's this month's favorite cat picture:
Do you know how hard it is to resist soft, sunshine-warmed kitty bellies, dude? Do you?!?
