Thursday Press #47: I've been saving this one for a while...
[22 SEPT 2022] on being a horse girl and manifesting
After rushing back from an impromptu trip to the pharmacy to get cortisone cream for my hornet stings, my horse tried to buck me off at my first ever show.
To anyone else, this might seem like the beginning of a series of unfortunate events. But it didn't phase me at all.
I was around horses. And I loved horses. (Still do.)
At 7 years old, I proudly picked out the only equestrian camp listed in our YMCA brochure and spent two weeks in horsey heaven.
Running into a nest of ground hornets and sitting through a pony tantrum was a minor price to pay.
Hi, I'm Sarah and I'm a proud horse girl.
Granted, I've been out of the saddle for nearly 10 years now, but that girl is still there deep down.
As is this lesson that I've kept in my brain from 8 years of riding lessons: always look where you want to go.
It's one of the first things they teach you.
First of all, because you can't have a bunch of beginner riders looking down instead of up at the gate they're about to steer their pony into.
More importantly though – and more relevant to this convo – when you look where you want to go, your body subconsciously shifts in a lot of different ways.
Your shoulders start to rotate in that direction, your weight shifts in the saddle…
All of this body language is an incredibly powerful way of communicating with the 1,000+ lb. creature you're riding.
“Sarah, what the hell does this have to do with business?”
It doesn't.
Well… it kind of does because I want to share my experience of ~manifesting~ in my business with you
Some necessary disclaimers:
I consider myself woo-adjacent. I'm accepting of lots of different things, and I'll try anything once (except bungee jumping, no THANKS)
Manifestation isn't responsible for everything. Things outside of your control also have an impact.
In other words, if something didn't turn out right, it might not have been because you're “bad at manifesting” or need to “fix your mindset”
Okay, disclaimers over. I hope you read them in that super-fast prescription ad voice. Let's jump in.
If horses are to the universe and riding is to achieving your goal, then looking where you want to go is to setting intentions for your future.
Anyone else flashback to the SATs there? I promise this analogy is simpler than whatever freaking geometry questions they threw at me years ago
At the beginning of this year, I set out goals for my business.
I checked in with them. Monthly.
I took advantage of every full moon, new moon, important date, and angel number to really visualize what I wanted my life to look like.
And not everything has happened exactly as envisions. But a lot has.
Whether or not you believe in manifesting, I think there's something to be said for the intentional practice of setting your sights on the future with goals and dreams.
Because when you look where you want to go in life, your actions will start to subconsciously align with those goals. And you'll see how things start to fall in place.
I am far from an expert, but I think the proof is in the butterscotch pudding.
If you have a cool manifestation story or resources you want to send my way, please do! I love chatting about this kinda stuff.
In the meantime, here's another analogy for ya. It's actually about Pinterest this time!
