Thursday Press #45: What makes your dream clients go all in?
[8 SEPT 2022] lessons from between the bookstore shelves
I'd like to consider myself a pro at finding books. I even wrote my college admissions essay about the library…
I'll weave through shelves like a well-trained bloodhound, willing my eyes to pick out the most interesting titles.
Because let's be honest, unless you came into Barnes & Noble with a plan and a list, you are judging a book by its cover.
It only takes a few seconds for me to judge whether I want to crack open the cover to read the blurb.
Only a few seconds more for me to determine whether or not the plot is up my alley.
Two things happened when I visited the bookstore for my traditional birthday browse last month:
1. I picked up a book, immediately drawn in by fantastical illustrations and quirky, old-timey font. Every twist in the summary kept me hooked like the author was catering a book to my exact preferences. It ended up coming home with me.
2. The second book I bought was one I had in my mind from the moment I walked in, sheerly from the amount of times it had showed up on my Insta story swiping.
The book? Elin Hilderbrand's The Hotel Nantucket. As soon as I saw the brilliant blue cover (with a 30% off sticker to boot), I added it to my pile without hardly a second glance at the inside cover.
These two experiences are great examples of the ways and reasons that people buy into brands.
and why your dream clients will buy into your services
The first – good design and reader- (client-) focused copywriting convinced me to first dig deeper, then buy the book.
The second – brand awareness and strong word-of-mouth.
I promised you last week I'd share how to monetize your Pinterest presence. There are lots of ways to do it depending on your business model.
Affiliate sales, digital products, courses, etc.
But the best, most sustainable and strategic way for online service providers to make money from Pinterest is by using these two strategies to build your audience and book out your services.
We start with the first. Pin graphics that are designed to stop the scroll and copy written to get users curious.
Then with time, your Pinterest marketing becomes an integral part of your brand's omnipresence.
These ideas are at the core of why Pinterest is such a beneficial tool to market your business. And when you go into your Pinterest journey with that in mind, that's where the magic happens my friend. ✨
