Thursday Press #43: a comedy show about crime and my favorite TikTok series
[26 AUG 2022] Lifestyle Edition Vol. 006
If July was a speedrun game of Jenga, then August was like putting in the last piece of a 1,000-piece puzzle.
I'm a big game night fan. Card games, board games, video games, puzzles, crosswords… I love it.
But that's beside the point.
This month was good. Sweet like perfectly ripe watermelon or a scoop of mint chocolate chip ice cream after a day at the beach.
Luxuriously long due to an increased focus on mindfulness, intention, and rest.
If that hasn't been your experience over the past several weeks, I'm sorry, friend! I know the back-to-school season can be chaotic for many.
I hope these monthly favorites bring you some laughs, inspiration, and focus as we move into this next season!
Favorite Follow: Theresa Sullivan of @littleflamecreative. As I get ready to embark on a DIY website re-do, I'm filling up my feed with copywriters and designers to absorb all their wisdom. Not only does Theresa check that box, I've also loved connecting over our similar takes on entrepreneurship, being “quiet people” and so much more!
Favorite Show: Only Murders in the Building. With a cast this good (Steve Martin, Selena Gomez, & Martin Short), I knew the show would be too, but it still blew me away! There were multiple times we had to stop and rewind because we were laughing too hard to hear. Short episodes make it endlessly binge-able!
Favorite Desk Tunes: Last time I shared this on my stories, it sparked SO many conversations (okay, like… 3.) I don't know what it is about brown noise, lo-fi, and video-game-esque soundtracks, but they do wonders for productivity. This 9-hour long ADHD Relief Music video on Youtube combines all of that!
Favorite Self Care Activity: Have you seen those TikToks about the “person who's never felt anxiety?” If not, catch up here. Although the videos are intended to be comedic (and they are), I've recently taken to imagining that cheerful voice in my head. Reframing thoughts is a common therapeutic technique, but it's just more fun when you put on a peppy Australian accent.
Favorite Coffee Order: IT'S PUMPKIN SPICE SEASON BABY! Whoa, sorry for yelling there. I'm just really excited. My wallet on the other hand? Less excited for the additional trips to Starbs & Dunks. I'm a big fan of seasonal coffee, so it's pumpkin cold brews from here until the weather drops to proper PSL temps.
And of course, here's this month's favorite cat picture:
They turned 1 this month, which explains this teenager-like desire to run away from their mother's affection. Right?
