Thursday Press #38: 3 ways to improve your Pinterest profile
[14 JUL 2022] increase conversions and make the most of that first impression!
ARE YOU CONFIDENT ABOUT THE FIRST IMPRESSIONS YOU'RE MAKING?
First impressions matter. That’s no surprise.
After all, why else would I spend weeks planning out my first day of school outfits?
One of which included a long-sleeve white button-down, tribal print infinity scarf, and skinny jeans…
..on an early September Virginia day that probably had a high in the 80s. 🤪
This outfit both dates me and exemplifies the fact that I was willing to compromise my comfort for that perfect first impression.
If you, too, would carefully lay out your favorite back-to-school shopping spree finds and wake up an hour earlier than you would for the rest of the year, you know what I mean.
Even though you’re no longer going through the first-day gauntlet yourself anymore, first impressions are still important, even on Pinterest.
This week, I’m going to share 3 ways to improve your Pinterest profile to help grow your audience and make the best impressions to potential followers (and clients)!
First things first, why does it matter?
For the most part, Pinterest users spend the majority of their time on the platform scrolling through the home feed or search results. However, with idea pins, users are automatically prompted to visit your profile at the end of the idea pin, which means more eyes on some prime real estate!
1. Give a visual snapshot of your content
First impressions are also made very quickly. Take advantage of your profile picture and cover photo to instantly demonstrate who you are and what kind of content/services users can find on your profile. You can make a collage of your pins, highlight a lead magnet or digital product, or show off your portfolio. As for your profile photo, make it the same as your Instagram profile for cross-platform brand awareness!
2. Optimize your profile name for searchability
Make sure to add a high-value keyword to your name. Pinterest has said you don’t need to do this anymore, but it doesn’t hurt for SEO purposes, and it’ll make it super clear what you do to any users who end up on your profile!
3. Use the bio space to its full potential
Pinterest recently updated the profile description space to include up to 500 characters, although only the first sentence or two will show up without having to click read more. Use this space to incorporate relevant keywords about your services and content, while demonstrating your personality. You can even add a call to action to work together or check out your offers. If you have users coming from idea pins, this can help convert those idea pin views into actual traffic and revenue.
