Thursday Press #36: slow sales got you down? here's what to do!
[30 JUN 2022] How to deal with the summer slump
Summer is officially in full swing and I’ve officially started hitting up every person I know with a boat because I am a water baby through and through, despite my Leo fire sign. (must be that Pisces moon…)
You know what’s also in full swing? The dreaded summer slump.
It happens every year
As summer vacation plans take over work week routines and laptops are closed in favor of leisurely summer afternoons, people are less focused on business growth, especially compared to the flurry of activity after the New Year.
Add that on top of record high inflation and record low consumer sentiment, you’ve got a recipe for lower sales. 📉
I feel incredibly lucky that I run a business that allows me to safeguard for such fluctuations.
But that doesn’t mean that the emotional reaction isn't valid.
Here are a few reminders that I hope can be a buoy to you if you’re feeling the summer slump blues a little extra hard:
This is normal and expected
It’s not just you
The summer is the PERFECT time to prepare for big moves in the fall, when normal life for many consumers returns and spending starts to go up again.
If your dream clients are planning for investment in the fall and winter, the time to start getting on their radar isn’t September, it’s now.
Which makes it the perfect time to get your business on Pinterest.
If you’re starting from the ground floor, it can take 3-6 months to really see your Pinterest efforts take off (even longer if you’re DIYing it…)
You know the coming-of-age stereotype of returning to school in the fall with a total new look – hair, clothes, spiffy new school supplies?
That’s what we’re aiming for.
Give your Pinterest account the summer ✨ glow up ✨ it deserves so when potential clients see it in the fall, they’ll be tripping over themselves to ask you to the homecoming dance (aka, get in your books NOW).
